Earth to Humanity
Hello my dear ones, the idea for this poem came to me after an acquaintance had a very unusual near-death experience, during which he could literally feel the pain and despair of our Earth within his own body. Let its message speak to your heart.
SOS, children of humankind, I am your home planet. I ask for only one thing: Love me with all your heart!
I offer you flowers, continents, northern lights, and a place to live, yet sometimes I feel that you humans hardly care.
I want to delight you for many years to come with all my vibrant colors, but I can only do so if you do not destroy me.
I want to give you abundant water so that everything may flourish, and so that children will not die of thirst, preventing great suffering.
Life pulses through every part of me, and I gladly offer you shelter. But what benefit is there for you humans in polluting my seas with waste?
Fish dying agonizing deaths in the oceans can only lead, in the long run, to humanity's own downfall. The rainforest will perish with me—what ideals do you wish to pass on to your children?
Let there be no more exploitation. Let animals and nature live. I gladly allow you to protect me, for it will benefit biodiversity. Then you, too, will once again rejoice when flowers bloom from my soil.
Your health will return, and with it my happiness as well. I appeal to your hearts, for I feel your pain just as you feel mine.
