For Every Little Bunny, a Blade of Grass Grows
"For every little bunny, a blade of grass grows," Mother Rabbit Langohr said encouragingly as she thoughtfully prepared dinner in a large pot, giving her little son a tender kiss on his cute little button nose! Puschel looked lovingly at his mother with his shining black eyes. From the very first moment of his still short life, he had admired his rabbit mother! There was still so much for him to learn!
Unlike him, his mother had the typical short, round rabbit tail, which experts also call a "scut," while Puschel's little tail was rather long. Such a tail was highly unusual for a bunny of his kind! But little Puschel loved playing tag with his own tail and never minded it at all!
Mother Rabbit's heart almost overflowed with love as she watched her little son happily absorbed in playing with his tail! The family had been exposed to so much ridicule lately, all because Puschel's tail was different from the norm. A large tear of compassion rolled down Mama Langohr's brown rabbit cheek and, sparkling, plopped into the dinner pot. Yet Puschel was the greatest and most precious treasure she had ever encountered in her life as a rabbit! No other bunny could delight so wonderfully in the little things as Puschel! In such a short time, he had become the darling of the entire forest. Everyone in the area knew the little bunny and always had an open ear for him. The oldest rabbits, who had lived on this earth longer than many a plant, even whispered behind their paws that Puschel had been sent from heaven itself to finally bring love and compassion back to the creatures of the forests and meadows. And this was no exaggeration, for even the briefest glance into the innocent eyes of the little bunny was enough to perceive all the suffering of the world—envy, malice, greed, violence, mockery, and scorn.
Sometimes the forest dwellers even felt as though little films about all the evil forces of the world were playing inside the bunny's eyes. At that very moment, they were overcome with deep shame as they thought about their own shortcomings and the darker thoughts and deeds that every living creature under the sun has, to a greater or lesser extent. Even the grumpiest rabbits, whose hearts seemed to be made of stone, melted in Puschel's presence, filled with love and deep compassion for the little bunny. It truly was a miracle to witness how the entire community had changed for the better since Puschel's birth one year earlier!
Many, many rabbit years before, a fortune teller had mysteriously foretold that a bunny would soon be born who, through his childlike innocence, would make the creatures of the forest and the meadows whole again, just as Creation had intended from the very beginning.
Meanwhile, at home, Puschel waited eagerly with Mother Langohr for the arrival of his hardworking father. Father Hoppel's stomach was already growling with hunger as he happily, though exhausted, made his way home from work. Just before Easter, there was an enormous amount to do in the rabbit workshop! The delicious-smelling meal was already waiting on the table, and beside it lay the recipe, handwritten by Mother Rabbit Langohr herself. It read:
1 huge portion of love
1 knife-tip of compassion
1 pinch of tolerance
1 large spoonful of joy for life
Season generously with a mother's and father's love. The result is a completely happy little bunny who can lovingly and lastingly change our world for the better in the most beautiful way... (The recipe may be adapted as you wish, as long as the basic ingredients remain the same.) :-)
Enjoy your meal and Happy Easter from the bottom of our hearts, Mama Langohr, Papa Hoppel, and little Puschel! LOVE IS THE GREATEST POWER ON EARTH!!!
